Preparing the Kids to School as Parents

Besides reaching a certain age, you’ll know when your kids are ready for school. As a Montessori in Brampton, Ontario, Castlemore Montessori understands that the environmental transition can be difficult for your child which is why we’d like to share the ways you can prepare your child for school.

We would like the parents of our potential enrollees to employ a holistic approach in helping children adjust to school.

Hereunder are some ways for this to happen:

  • Multiple school exposure.

Visit the school beforehand to expose your child to the school premises and the classroom environment. Familiarity would do wonders. Do this a couple of times to make the transition easier.

  • Improve their weaknesses.

A school is a place for learning, but sometimes, it could put so much pressure on your child regardless of their age. There are kids who fear going to school because there are subjects or lessons they find too difficult to the point that they become certain that failing will be inevitable. To manage the pressure, strengthen their weak areas. For instance, if Math is a bit hard for them, teach them the basics and make the learning fun!

  • Manage their anxiety.

Schedule a one-on-one session with your child. This is a form of toddler care that they need the most when faced with change. Through this, you can prepare them emotionally and mentally. Find out their worries and do something about them. Moreover, assure them that you’re going to be there every step of the way.

Infant care to toddler care plays a huge role in preparing every child for another phase of their lives and we hope that as parents, you become their guiding light.
