Having Your Child Learn How to Be Independent

Even though we want to be there for our kids 24/7 and provide toddler care, they need to learn early on that they can handle specific tasks independently.

Being independent not only aids in their overall development and learning needs but also encourages kids to become articulate thinkers, curious and resilient explorers, and creative problem solvers.

By encouraging our little ones to take on more responsibility, we can show them that we care about them and help them develop a strong sense of self-worth that will serve them well throughout their lives.

You can help your child learn to be independent by letting them practice until they master a challenging task and the barriers to independence disappear.

Giving your children chores can foster responsibility and self-reliance. For instance, you can make them fix their beds and clean them.

Though you may face resistance, persisting will pay off in the end. You can also allow them to pick clothes or choose what they want to eat for breakfast and dinner.

At Castlemore Montessori, we encourage children at our daycare in Ontario in their attempts at socialization and nurture their developing desire to do so. We ensure that our classroom feels like your child’s second home, with lots of comfort and safety features.
